The most in demand programming languages in the labor market 2021

2021-11-14

The battle for the best programming language is raging. But who will make it out on top? Actually, they’re all great, but we did check our database of job postings from over 6,000 tech companies across the globe to see which languages were most in-demand from employers.

So, whether you’re a seasoned programmer with years of experience and a few languages under your belt, or you’re just starting out and trying to decide where to start, here are the top programming languages of 2021 (so far):

1) JavaScript:

According to Jobbio data, JavaScript is the most commonly used programming language in terms of jobs posted on the website. According to the site, almost all roles relating to programming and engineering list JavaScript in the job requirementsThat is because it’s considered to be the easiest programming language to learn, and most web browsers use it.

JavaScript is used to manage the behavior of web pages. Coders can create dynamic web elements such as animated graphics, interactive maps, clickable buttons and more using JavaScript.

Programmers who use HTML, CSS and JavaScript in tandem obtain a higher level of website control and can provide a better user experience in terms of navigation and readability

2) Python:

Following very closely behind JavaScript is Python, an interpreted high-level general-purpose programming language. Its design philosophy emphasises code readability with its use of significant indentation.

Its language constructs as well as its object-oriented approach aim to help programmers write clear, logical code for small and large-scale projects. In fact, a number of popular digital tools and platforms were developed with Python, including YouTube, Google Search, and iRobot machines.

There has been an increase in the demand for Python developers over the last few years on Jobbio, a trend that has gone nowhere in 2021. Read more about the top jobs for Python programmers.

3) C#:

Another language that’s constantly in demand is C# (C-Sharp). It is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm programming language. C# encompasses static typing, strong typing, lexically scoped, imperative, declarative, functional, generic, object-oriented, and component-oriented programming disciplines

As with other popular languages, a large community works with C# and offers support to new learners. Because of this, learning C# may actually be easier than attempting to learn some of the newer and less-documented languages.

4) SQL:

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a language that allows programmers to query and manipulate databases. As a domain-specific language, it’s designed for managing data within an RDBMS. Basically, SQL can locate and retrieve data from a database, as well as update, add, or remove records.

SQL allows developers to connect servers and databases for application programs such as Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server. SQL also dominates the notable trend of cloud computing, which will, no doubt, continue to grow in popularity.

5) CSS:

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is usually applied along with HTML and governs a website’s appearance. While HTML organises site text into chunks, CSS is responsible for determining the size, colour and positioning of a page’s elements.

CSS is also very convenient. The cascading element of the name means that an applied style will cascade down from parent elements to all children elements across the site. This feature means that once users determine aesthetics for the main parent, they won’t have to manually repeat their code across a website.

6) Golang:

It had been developed by Google and commonly referred to as Go. Programmers use Golang for system and network programming, audio and video editing, and Big Data. Google designed it to support multithreading which allows processes to run concurrently.

Furthermore, projects such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Blockchain use Go. As Google’s power shows no sign of slowing down, researchers expect Go to serve as one of the most futuristic programming languages.

7) PHP:

Much of the developer community argues PHP performs slowly and acts outdated. However, it remains popular among back-end development. In addition, we anticipate the stack overflow developer survey of 2021 reporting it as one of the most in-demand programming languages of 2021.

According to W3Techs, 79% of all websites use PHP. Facebook, Yahoo, and Wikipedia use the PHP framework. Plus, WordPress, the most popular content management system continues to be the language of choice.
